Day 4

My fourth day in Slough, again with another mentor. Today Jon was my mentor. He is the IC in the team. I still don't know what exactly this means because he didn't only do his own job today, but also the job of Pieke and Scott. Pieke, who is the main leader over the whole department chocolate, had been away for a while, so she wanted to get all her most important stuff on the road again. Because of this Jon had to take over some of her dayly jobs. Scott had a day off so Jon als had to do some of the teamleading in the team. Because of this, I had to go to even more meetings than i did in the last two days. This made de morning a little boring, but after lunch it became better. Jon finally gave me a propper and complete factory-tour and told me step by step how the candy was made and what chocolate they used for what candybar. When we went back to the controlroom of the chocolate department in the factory, I also tasted the different types of chocolate. There were six different types, from really dark, to very creamy milk chocolate. I also tasted some of the raw materials from chocolate, like cocoabutter and cocoamass but also the steps in between the raw materials and the final outcome like crumb, the powder and liquid raw materials mixed and put into the oven. When I was tasting al these things one by one, Jon gave me a clear explaination from the proces of making chocolat which was very nice!
Being back at the hotel, my dad and I went for diner and called it a day.
